Meeting

INTRO
——

Welcome to this meeting of the Church of the Sacred Body. We are a non-hierarchical spiritual collective dedicated to bodily autonomy and the things we can extrapolate from it in our daily lives. There are only two tenets required for membership:

1. Your body and its alignment with the content of your spirit are a critical part of spiritual practice.
2. Your bodily autonomy is not an excuse to do harm to others or put others in harm’s way.

The purpose of this meeting does not require a belief in God, but it is more than just a discussion of political, social, or philosophical ideas. The purpose of this meeting is to learn and discuss and meditate on things manifest in nature which help order our queer lives in harmony. We are here to discuss deeply held queer beliefs that help us daily think our highest, feel our deepest, and live our best.

In this meeting we will hear a reading exploring bodily autonomy, have a short, silent, group meditation, and then discuss the reading. Readers are encouraged to provide content warnings around potentially triggering subjects.

We will now go around and introduce ourselves. My name is _____, (optionally share pronouns), and I am our volunteer facilitator this week.

(Thank everyone for being here and pass around any applicable sign up sheets or donation jars)

READING
——

I now turn the floor over to (reader)

(After reading, thank the reader)

——
MEDITATION
——

Our meditations are a silent practice. We encourage you to relax in whatever position is comfortable for you, but not so comfortable you fall asleep. If you need to get up, please do so quietly. (Direct to bathrooms and water). In (time) I will gently bring us back and we will discuss the reading.

(Facilitator is responsible for watching the clock)

DISCUSSION
——

Now we’ll open the floor to discussion. In this meeting we have a policy of no cross talk. This means to please refrain from interrupting, or offering unsolicited advice to others.

——
CLOSE (5 minutes before end)
——

That’s all the time we have. Does anyone have any church announcements?

Is anyone open to talk to newcomers?

Thank you! We hope to see you next month!
